ARTIST BIOS

IDRIS ACKAMOOR is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, actor, and tap dancer. He is the founder of the internationally celebrated performance company Cultural Odyssey. He is Artistic Director of the legendary world music/jazz ensemble THE PYRAMIDS. Idris' primary instruments are the alto and tenor saxophones. Idris has performed and collaborated with tenor saxophonists Chico Freeman and the late John Tchicai, choreographer/dancer Bill T. Jones, writer Ntozake Shange and Pearl Cleage, his longtime partner actress Rhodessa Jones, and many others. Idris was a protégé of Chicago legendary master clarinetist Clifford King who played with Jelly Roll Morton and Freddie Keppard in the 1920s.

YVETTE JANNINE JACKSON is a composer, sound designer, and installation artist. Recent projects include a residency at Stockholm’s Elektronmusikstudion (EMS); the premiere of This is Radio Opera at Audiorama Stockholm; Soldier, a 5-day immersive cinematic installation for the Recombinant Media Lab at Qualcomm Institute’s Calit2; and Invisible People (A Radio Opera). Yvette is a recipient of San Francisco's Dean Goodman Choice Award for Sound Design and Theatre Bay Area’s Eric Landisman Fellowship. She was selected by the American Composers Orchestra to participate in the third Jazz Composers Orchestra Institute.

DAVID MOLINA: is an award-winning composer, musician, sound artist/designer, recording engineer, and instrument inventor. He has created music and sound for the performing arts, film, and multimedia productions for the past 20 years. Theater has allowed him to collaborate with companies nationally and internationally. His instruments and sound installations have been displayed throughout bay area galleries and festivals. He performs with Idris Ackamoor and The Pyramids. Molina's music and bands: Ghosts and Strings, Transient, and Impuritan are available on Resting Bell (Berlin,) Dorog Records (Peru,) Black Note Music and Distant Spore (USA), or self released.
