This tribute to Victoria Santa Cruz was supported in part by a generous grant from the Phyllis C. Wattis Foundation.
Since the revival period in Peru, many artists have re-created and evolved African rhythmic and dance forms that have become the folkloric music and dance of the coastal region of Peru. De Rompe y Raja Cultural Association will represent the genres of Festejo, Marinera, Landó, and Valse Criollo to commemorate the life and work of the mother of Afro Peruvian dance and theatre, Victoria Santa Cruz, who passed away in 2014 at the age of 91. She has immensely impacted many, in particular those who very quietly work to recover the value of the African Legacy in the World.
Participation in the SFIAF sponsored by the Consulate General of Peru in San Francisco.
