Duration: 90 minutes
Location: Lines Dance Center Ballet Studio, 26 7th St, 5th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94103
General Admission: $15 (Discounts for Festival Ticketholders)
The workshop is an opportunity for aspiring choreographers to interact with Erica and learn to use language (non-verbal) and imagery as a source of movement invention. Writing is the starting point and participants will create their own biographical stories and themes related to culture and identity. Cultural identity, in turn, becomes the tool for dance creation. The session employs contact improvisation as a basis for warm-up, partnering techniques and working with lifts to create movement utilizing shared material for duets and trios. The goal is to create a framework to explore unique lifts and weight shifts for dynamic partnering in composition.
