Surya Berthomieux

French-American choreographer and dancer Surya Berthomieux will perform a new 30 minute solo work accompanied by the Musical Art Quintet, with an original score by Sascha Jacobsen. The performance piece is about the ever present struggle with self-image and appearances; a journey through emotion, inner tautness, anger and sorrow—a fight to attain a state of self-acceptance and ultimately shed light on what is behind suffering—the energy of life: love. In spite of everything, love has always been in us. The second half of the program will feature new compositions and arrangements by Sascha Jacobsen for the Musical Art Quintet.

Surya Berthomieux formed her own dance company in 2013 in the scope of a personal research work that leads to the creation of her new work called 'AiME'.

As a professional dancer, Surya Berthomieux goes on stage for the first time at the age of twelve for a tour of China and the United States. Many times gold medalist, winner of national and international dance contests, soloist and choreographer of this dance company, she participates in the creation of the works 'Homme | Animal' and 'Water Soul' that are still touring the world. In her own work, she dedicates her technical mastery that comes from a multidisciplinary professional training, to a refined body language and geometrical spatial constructions.
