Internship Job Descriptions
Mission: The mission of the Festival is to embody an imaginative microcosm of the Bay Area’s arts community, to present innovative projects focused on increasing human awareness and understanding and to promote a multicultural international performance platform that inspires local and global audiences. To fulfill its mission SFIAF actively seeks to promote diversity and equity, activism and advocacy, education and the free exchange of ideas through a multi-faceted program.
Internships: The 2025 Festival will take place at multiple venues in the Mission district of San Francisco from April 30 – May 11.
- All positions can be undertaken at least partially remotely and come with a flexible schedule, a real-world nonprofit experience and the chance to be involved in our local Bay Area performing arts scene.
- The time commitment is roughly 8-10 hours per week for a 12-15-week period.
- The preferred deadline to apply is January 24, 2025.
- The dates of the internship are flexible between February 1 – May 16, 2025.

Positions Available
SFIAF Newsletter Editor ***Also Available in Autumn 2024***
The person in this position is to be in operational charge of the SFIAF monthly newsletter that is sent via email to 13,000+ addresses and also shared via social media platforms. Responsibilities include writing one editorial story per month and gathering, choosing and preparing materials for event highlights to be contained in the newsletter. Social Media Marketing Assistant
Join our marketing team this semester to help run and grow our social media presence across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and other platforms. In this role you’ll post, write, engage and help create content that supports our efforts leading up to the Festival in May, and you’ll also be involved in special projects such as researching artists and performance venues, managing creative assets and helping shape editorial. Public Relations Assistant
Work with the organization’s publicist to promote the Festival program to the mass media. Responsibilities include writing press releases, interacting with the editors and journalists, helping to develop, distribute and make follow-up calls on media releases and posting to online calendar websites. Community Outreach Assistant
The Community Outreach Assistant shall work to develop and coordinate residency activities for artists participating in the International Festival, and help do outreach to and coordinate tickets for identified community interest groups to attend the Festival. This position also involves tabling and working with volunteers at community outreach events.
Grant Writing & Development Assistant
This position requires working with the Festival director to research government and private foundation funding possibilities and deadlines and keeping the SFIAF database current.
