‘Horizons…Kathak and Beyond’ is a beautiful array of choreographic work in Indian Classical Kathak dance style. Kathak is a North Indian dance which is known for its fluid movements, fast spins, intricate footwork with ankle bells and realistic natural storytelling through stylized mime. Horizons features traditional as well as contemporary themes in Classical Kathak. The performers include SISK’s founder, principal dancer and choreographer Shambhavi Dandekar along with her highly trained and accomplished disciples from India and USA. SISK troupe is well known for their their technical prowess, impeccable synchronization, expressional mastery and high production value.

Shambhavi Dandekar (Choreographer & Principal Dancer)

Shambhavi Dandekar is well known as a performer, teacher and choreographer in Indian Classical Kathak dance. She is the founder and director of Shambhavi’s International School of Kathak (SISK). She started her training at the age of 4 with her own mother and renowned Guru in India, Pandita Maneesha Sathe. She also received intense training in Rhythm from Tabla Guru Pandit Suresh Talwalkar. Shambhavi has two Master’s degrees in Dance. She also holds Diplomas in French and Sanskrit languages. She has performed in Japan, China, Middle East, Canada, Australia, Singapore and many reputed dance festivals in India and USA.
