We Got the Power
Saturday September 20, 2025
12:00PM Pacific Time

On Saturday September 20 (the weekend of the Autumnal Equinox) we will initiate a national movement to publicly protest and organize against Project 2025. The People vs. Project 2025 will be an artistic, populist and public expression of the work being done by many activist community and political advocacy organizations working to oppose what is a dangerous Christian Fundamentalist dogma fronted by the Heritage Foundation (scroll down for informational URL links about Project 2025).

The movement empowers people from all sectors of society to organize and express their opposition to Project 2025 in a coordinated, artistic and visible way.

The first phase of the movement will build with public actions through 2026 in the run-up to the November mid-term elections. The goal is to encourage voters to support candidates for public office throughout the country who will pledge to oppose Project 2025 and build back the institutions (including the National Endowment for the Arts) upon which it has wrought so much havoc and destruction.

Inspiration
We are taking our inspiration from a series of successful actions that took place across the California State University system in 2012. Members of the California Faculty Association (the faculty's trade union) participated in choreographed "flash-mob-like" dance choruses to support one and oppose another initiative on the state ballot in that year's November elections. The actions occurred simultaneously across many of the system's 23 campuses. The choruses were structured to allow freestyle improvisations devised by each individual group in between.

We Got The Power
Our first action in September will include adapting a mix version of the song, The Power by Snap. Facilitated by performing artists, people will engage in mass public actions across the country and live stream them. The live streams will feed into a central channel where they will all be featured as part of a coordinated national broadcast.

Edited versions of the coordinated national actions will be posted to YouTube and other hosted video sites.

Following the CSU example, there will be a choreographed chorus with space in between for communities to focus on and articulate the parts of Project 2025 that are most dangerous to them.

And this is just a suggestion, we encourage each local group to tailor their action to within their community's priorities. If you want help creating your local action, we are happy to support.

San Francisco Action
In San Francisco, we are assembling at Civic Center Plaza across from City Hall.

There will be an in-person rehearsal starting at 10:00am. The event will start at 12:00pm and last for about 60 minutes.

Individuals
Individuals who want to participate in the action can RSVP HERE and we will be in touch with a (very brief and basic) advance virtual group rehearsal schedule (see below for accessible "how to" DIY instructional videos).
