“femme’s refusal” is a reimagining of “The Rite of Spring” by OOMPH Dance Theater’s Zackary Forcum. This solo interdisciplinary work examines how society asks men to sacrifice the feminine within themselves for cultural renewal and stability. OOMPH is proud to share a festival program with pateldanceworks, as the two company’s different work concerning queer femme identity provides voice to stories too often dismissed and erased.
Zackary Forcum is a born and raised SF Bay Area artist, teacher, and facilitator with over 16 experience in the performing arts. Artistic Director of OOMPH Dance Theater, Forcum creates work through queer, scientific, and theatrical lenses. He earned his MFA in Performance and Choreography from Mills College and has worked with artists such as Jacqueline Burgess, James Graham, Joe Landini and more.
