Fantasies & Dances for Solo GuitarManila-born guitarist/composer Florante Aguilar was classically trained at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and is one of the leading figures championing Philippine music internationally. His arrangements and compositions successfully craft the balance between respect and the redefinition of tradition. A seasoned recording artist, Aguilar is a recipient of composition awards, most notably from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Gerbode Foundation. He has performed at the Lincoln Center, Hollywood Bowl, and his film work can be seen on the PBS documentary Harana chronicling his search for the last surviving practitioners of serenade music in the Philippines.
