San Francisco, September 8, 2021: The 2021 SF International Art Festival gives a high priority to musical expression (see full music calendar listings below).

This year's much-anticipated outdoor program includes a diverse range of Bay Area master artists whose work focuses on specific cultures and traditions. But a common thread that runs through many of the concerts is expressions of cultural identity and solidarity with social justice movements extending beyond traditional self-expression to include resistance, diversity and inclusion. For example, Los Nadies (who take their name from the Eduardo Galeano poem of the same name) play the music of democracy and freedom from Latin America, Florante Aguilar sings songs of Pilipino culture and resistance, and Purnamasari pays homage to the post-coup Indonesian Diaspora.

Other artists, such as Keith Terry (Free Dive) and Larry Reed (Shadowlight Productions) share the results of lifelong immersion in specific cultures and genres from Asia, while Sandy Cressman (Homenagem Brasileira) expresses a similar devotion to the music of Brazil.

In addition to Shadowlight's Balinese Shadow Play with live music, ABADA Capoeira and Theatre Flamenco de San Francisco present concerts featuring live music and dance.

The weekend also includes western classical music with the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, Ars Minerva and the Wind Weavers all pushing artistic boundaries.

Each performance will allow audiences to experience the beauty and power of culture, folk tradition, and artistic discipline. Simply by engaging with various styles of music, guests will also be able to take part in the growing discourse surrounding various sociopolitical struggles from around the world.

Not only are audiences free to enjoy this microcosm of cultures both virtually or in-person, they will also be able to curate their own individual journey by selecting their preferred artists. Guests may attend one or more shows of their choosing by purchasing either individual tickets or SFIAF's popular Festival Pass, which allows them to enjoy up to eight shows at a discounted price. Audiences can select from a range of artists and join them as they display their talents against the scenic coastal backdrop of the historic Fort Mason Center.

Early Bird Passes range in price from $28 for two concerts to $103 for eight performances. The Early Bird expires on September 15.

Early Bird tickets and Festival passes are now on sale for the San Francisco International Arts Festival's two-day outdoor program to take place at the Fort Mason Center on the weekend of October 23-24.
