Production Details

Pravaasi
Pravaasi translates to: a migrant living away from home. The saga of a typical immigrant experience in search of a “home-away-from-home”, is through phases of wanderlust, separation-anxiety, identity-crisis, nostalgia and assimilation. These phases are non-linear and unpredictable. The struggles in navigating them are real, but so are the tenacity and courage that a “pravaasi" shows in finding acceptance, a new identity, a safe haven where they can thrive. Drawing parallels to universal emotions of anyone who leaves the secure comfort of “home”, whether or not they cross an international border, this relatable journey is presented through Indian Classical Kathak dance.

InSyncKathak Dancers
In the eleven years since its inception, InSyncKathak Dance School under the stewardship of Anupama Srivastava, has critical acclaim, 50+ awards, 150+ students, and 250+ performances to its credit, including the All Indian Dance Festival at Carnegie Hall NY, Drive East Festival NY, New York Kathak Festival, Sacramento Dance Sampler, National YoungArts Week Miami, San Francisco Movement Arts Festival, Oakland Dance Festival, Toronto International Youth Dance Festival, and PUSHFest. Three InSyncKathak students have won recognition through the National YoungArts Foundation: Reva Srivastava (Finalist, 2022 US Presidential Scholar in the Arts), Vyoma Bhanap (Finalist 2023), and Saanvi Ranadive (Merit 2023).
